Over 76,659 Tunisian students pursue studies overseas in 2022 (OTE)

The number of Tunisian students pursuing their studies overseas increased 1% to 76,023 students in 2022, compared to 76,659 in 2021, according to statistics published by the Office of Tunisians Abroad (OTE).

France remains the main destination for Tunisian students abroad (57.9%), with approximately 44,355 students, followed by Germany (11%) with 8497 students, posting a 13% increase compared to 2021.

On the other hand, the number of Tunisian students in Russia and Ukraine dropped 32% and 99%, respectively, due to the war.

Director of scholarships and student loans abroad at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Maha Hammami had previously told TAP that France is the most popular destination for Tunisian students.

The 2022-2023 academic year saw 17,268 Tunisian students leave to pursue their higher education abroad, including 6,962 in France, and 3,185 in Germany, while 1,090 left to Spain, 858 to Canada and 800 to Russia, she indicated.
