The Free Destourian Party (PDL) denounced in a statement Monday what it called an abuse ban on its grassroots movements and the methodical crackdown on its protests and demonstrations and urged the release of its president Abir Moussi who has been in prison since October 3, 2023. The statement follows the banning of a march planned by the PDL on February 18, the party pointed out. The PDL warned the government against 'blatantly violating its right to legitimate and peaceful activism,' particularly by obstructing its meetings to present its electoral programme. In this context, it deplored the pressure exerted on owners of private premises and the persecution of party members for their political opinions. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
