Continued efforts to fight gang violence and to restore calm in the Hanover Park area led to the arrests of two suspects for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition on Monday evening, 26 August 2024. Members of the Maitland Flying Squad responded to information they received about firearms that were stored at a premises in Deutz Road, Hanover Park. On arrival at the said premises, the members ensued with a search upon which they found and confiscated three 9mm pistols with 65 rounds of ammunition. Two males aged 43 and 58 were arrested and detained. They will appear in the Athlone Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 28 August 2024 on the mentioned charges. Source: South African Police Service
