President Kais Saied met Haykel Ben Mahfoudh at the Carthage Palace on Thursday afternoon to congratulate him on his recent election as a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The President of the Republic considered that this election was not a coincidence, but an international recognition of Tunisia's competences. During this meeting, he also discussed the role assigned to the ICC in the prosecution of all those who have committed crimes under its jurisdiction, according to a statement from the Presidency. Referring to the new situation in the world today, the President of the Republic said that the humanitarian community hoped for a fairer international order in all areas. The President of the Republic spoke at length about the crimes being committed today against the Palestinian people in full view of the world, saying these crimes against humanity cannot continue indefinitely and go unpunished.
