Suspect appears in court for murder of girlfriend’s uncle

A 30-year-old foreign national, Rakhahi MMpapea, appeared in the Botshabelo Magistrate's Court on a charge of murder and his case is postponed to 21 October 2024 for bail information. The suspect remained in custody. It is alleged that on 29 June 2024 at about 20:00, the suspect arrived at his girlfriend's parental home in Botshabelo and demanded she go with him. This was after they had a quarrel because the suspect was having a firearm with him. It is reported that the uncle of his girlfriend was fatally shot by the suspect during an apparent argument. He was declared dead on the scene. The suspect has since been on the run until he was arrested on 21 September 2024. Source: South African Police Service
