Tunis: Tunisian dermatologist Moez Ben Salem, a member of the Tunisian Society of Dermatology and Venereology (STDV), was appointed president of the African Society of Dermatology and Venereology (ASDV) for a two-year term, at the end of the general assembly of that society held on the sidelines of the 4th African Congress of Dermatology and Venereology, held from April 23 to 27 in Tunis. In a statement to TAP agency, Ben Salem stressed that this appointment would allow the Tunisian dermatology sector to be well positioned in Africa and to benefit from exchanges aimed at developing dermatology in Africa and promoting access to care in disadvantaged areas. The aim is also to ensure that Africa is well represented in international bodies," he said. Some 600 delegates of 24 different nationalities from Africa, Asia, Australia and the Americas attended the 4th African Congress of Dermatology and Venereology. Following previous congresses in South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria, this was the first time the congress was held in North Africa and Tunisia.
