Tunisian law professor Hajer Gueldich to present oral arguments of AU member states before ICJ

Tunisian professor of public law and legal counsel of the African Union (AU), Hajer Gueldich, will present the oral arguments of the AU Member States before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the legal consequences of the policies and practices of the Zionist entity in the Occupied Palestinian Territory on Monday in The Hague, Netherlands. "I have the honour to represent the African Union before the International Court of Justice, together with my team. We are presenting the AU's oral arguments in the context of the advisory opinion requested from the ICJ on the legal consequences of Israel's practices in the Occupied Palestinian Territory," Hajer Gueldich posted on social media. Hajer Gueldich was selected on February 6, 2024 from among 600 candidates to serve as legal adviser and counsel to the African Union. A professor of international law at the University of Carthage, Hajer Gueldich has taught for more than 20 years. She was a member of the AU's International Law Commission for ten years befo re being appointed to a two-year term as its President, the first woman to hold the position since the Commission's inception in 2009. She contributed to the establishment of a Master's programme in African Union law at the Faculty of Law, Political and Social Sciences in Tunis (University of Carthage). Several countries and international organisations are participating in the ICJ hearings on almost six decades of Zionist occupation.
